Malware

Submitted by Perdikkas on 17/08/2013, on 6:03 pm

Yesterday we noticed that our site was - once again - the victim of malware. Some of our pages contained code that forwarded visitors to dubious foreign websites.

I now have reconstructed the website from backups on the base of a fresh Wordpress installation, and the malware should be gone now. We want to apologize to all affected visitors.

Heuneburg cancelled

Submitted by Perdikkas on 10/06/2013, on 8:33 pm

Due to organisational difficulties, we had to cancel the event that was planned on the Heuneburg for June 15th/16th. We are very sorry for everyone who planned on visiting us there and that we cannot be part of an event there in the last year of the museum.

Strange Popups to Amazon

Submitted by Perdikkas on 14/05/2013, on 9:12 pm

Today I noticed that our site started showing unwanted popups linking to Amazon from my Work-PC. The link seems to be part of an affiliate program of a site called worldfunnypics.com. If anyone noticed these popups in the past: rest assured that they are not wanted and I am searching for the cause off the problem.

Attic Trierarch

Submitted by Perdikkas on 09/02/2013, on 7:31 pm

While I use the winter break to be lazy and do abolutely nothing regarding my hobby, some of our members are hard at work on their new impressions. Today, Athineos presented his new attic navy officer to us.

The pictures show the commander of an attic trireme, a so-called Trierarch, around 450 v.Chr. Not only had he the burden of command, he also had to pay the outfit and operation of the ship by himself. Thus, Trierarchs were men with considerable wealth and social status, which reflects in Athineos new equipment. Like a classical Hoplite, he wears a Corinthian Helmet, a metal breast plate, greaves, and an aspis. Remarkable is the triple crest he carries on his helmet.

Additionally, the Trierarch wears a richly ornamented mantle, a Chlamys. The octopus motive can also be found on his Aspis.
